Is a heat pump a good fit for my home?

In many homes, yes. A heat pump can heat and cool your home from one system, which makes it a smart option for year-round comfort and lower energy bills. The right fit depends on your home’s size, insulation, ductwork, and your current HVAC setup. At IRPEEL HVAC INC., we look at the full picture before we recommend anything. If a heat pump is not the best choice for your home, we will tell you.

Will a heat pump work during cold Illinois winters?

Yes, when the system is properly sized and installed. Modern heat pumps are built to handle cold weather much better than many homeowners expect. In some homes, we may recommend a setup with backup heat for extra comfort on the coldest days. Our job is to make sure your system is matched to your home so you stay comfortable in every season.

How much does heat pump installation cost?

The cost depends on the size of the system, the brand, the layout of your home, whether ductwork changes are needed, and if you are replacing an older furnace and AC system. We offer honest recommendations and same-day quotes or visits when possible. We also work on all brands and can accommodate brand requests. The best way to get real pricing is to call us at (708) 582-1889 and schedule an estimate.

How long does heat pump installation take?

Most installations can be completed in a day, but the exact timeline depends on the scope of work. If your project includes ductwork updates, electrical changes, or a full system conversion, it may take longer. We will explain the process clearly before work starts so you know what to expect. Our team aims for smooth, same-day service whenever possible.

What kind of maintenance does a new heat pump need?

Like any heating and cooling system, a heat pump needs regular maintenance to keep it running well and to help prevent breakdowns. We strongly recommend seasonal tune-ups, filter changes, and performance checks. Many customers ask about our Home Service Plan (HSP) because it helps with routine maintenance and gives members priority service. If you want fewer surprises and better system performance, ask us about becoming an HSP member.

We are a small, family-owned company based in Zion, IL, and we work directly with homeowners to make sure the system fits the home, the comfort goals, and the budget. Our team focuses on honest recommendations, clean installation work, and five-star service from start to finish.

How Heat Pump Installation Works

A heat pump moves heat instead of creating it the way a traditional furnace does. In cooling mode, it removes heat from inside your home and sends it outside. In heating mode, it pulls heat from outdoor air and brings it indoors. That process makes heat pumps an energy-efficient option for many residential properties, including existing homes, rehabs, and some new construction projects.

Depending on the home and layout, we may install:

Whole-home ducted heat pump systems
Ductless mini split heat pumps for homes without ductwork
Replacement heat pumps for outdated or inefficient equipment
Heat pump systems paired with indoor air handlers or compatible existing components when appropriate

We work on all brands and can help you choose a system that matches your needs. While we often prefer Goodman for installs, we can accommodate requested brands when possible.

What Is Included in Our Heat Pump Installation Service

Every home is different, so we do not treat installation like a one-size-fits-all job. We look at the important details before recommending equipment. Our heat pump installation service can include:

Review of your current heating and cooling setup
Evaluation of home size, layout, insulation, and airflow needs
Equipment sizing guidance to help avoid overpowered or undersized systems
Removal of old equipment when needed
Installation of the outdoor unit and indoor unit or air handler
Connection to refrigerant lines, electrical components, thermostat controls, and drainage
Testing system performance, airflow, and temperature operation
Final walkthrough so you understand how the system works and how to care for it

Proper sizing and installation matter. A system that is too large or too small can lead to short cycling, uneven comfort, extra wear, and higher utility bills. We take the time to install the system correctly so you get the performance you paid for.

Benefits of Installing a Heat Pump

Many homeowners choose a heat pump because it can improve comfort and efficiency at the same time. Key benefits include:

Lower energy bills: Heat pumps are known for efficient operation, especially compared to older heating and cooling equipment.
Year-round comfort: One system handles both heating and air conditioning.
Better temperature control: Heat pumps can help maintain more consistent indoor temperatures.
Quiet performance: Many newer systems run more quietly than older units.
Cleaner, more modern comfort: New heat pump systems often provide improved airflow and comfort control.
Good fit for many homes: They can work well in residential replacements, remodels, additions, and some new builds.

If your current system struggles to keep up, needs frequent repairs, or causes high utility bills, a new heat pump may be a better long-term investment.

Is a Heat Pump Right for Your Home?

Heat pump installation is often a great option for homeowners who want to replace an aging AC and furnace, improve energy efficiency, or add heating and cooling to areas that do not stay comfortable. We help you look at the full picture, including your existing equipment, ductwork, home layout, and comfort problems.

You may want to consider a heat pump if:

Your current system is older and less efficient
Your energy bills keep rising
Some rooms feel too hot or too cold
You want one system for both heating and cooling
You are updating a rehab property or planning HVAC for new construction
You need a ductless mini split heat pump for a room addition, garage, or home without ducts

We will explain your options clearly so you can make an informed decision without pressure.
